What is being measured?

In various parts of Dortmund, measurement stations continuously record weather data such as air temperature, humidity, and solar radiation. This information helps to better understand current heat stress in the city.

The stations are displayed as points on the map. You can select individual stations, choose specific climate indicators, and adjust the time period displayed. The corresponding diagrams allow for comparisons across locations and time spans.

Use the interactive map on the right for orientation. Additional layers such as aerial imagery or health risk information can be displayed to enrich the view.

Selected stations:

The universal thermal climate index (UTCI) describes how warm the weather feels to the human body. It takes into account air temperature, wind speed, solar radiation, and humidity. Results are expressed as a perceived temperature in degrees Celsius (°C). Calculations assume an average person wearing seasonally appropriate clothing while walking outdoors.
